Another Aveiro (and a Hepburn, and a Lindy) from Itch to Stitch

Onder het motto:  eentje is geentje ...

besloot ik nog een nieuwe Aveiro cardigan te maken.  Mijn vorige Aveiro was er eentje met een normale lengte en 3/4 mouwen.  Nu wilde ik een korter exemplaar met lange mouwen, ik weet het, ik houd van tegenstrijdigheden 😉.

Ik maakte mijn cardigan met woljersey van Lillestoff.  Deze stof is erg rekbaar waardoor mijn oker exemplaar veel losser zit dan mijn blauwe versie. 

Under the motto: one is nothing ...
I decided to make a new Aveiro cardigan.  My previous Aveiro was one with a normal length and 3/4 sleeves. Now I wanted a shorter body with long sleeves, I know, I like contradictions 😉.
I made my cardigan with wool jersey from Lillestoff. This fabric is very stretchable so my ocher copy is much looser than my blue version.

Ik combineerde mijn Aveiro cardigan met de Hepburn rolkraagtrui en de gratis Lindy petal skirt. 

De Hepburn rolkraagtrui is een echte aanwinst in mijn patronencollectie.  Deze trui zit enorm comfortabel en zal goed van pas komen als basisstuk in mijn herst-/wintercollectie!

I combined my Aveiro cardigan with the Hepburn turtleneck and the free Lindy petal skirt.
The Hepburn turtleneck is a real asset in my pattern collection. This sweater is very comfortable and it will be a real basic piece in my fall/winter collection!

The Aveiro cardigan from Itch to Stitch

Een tweetal weekjes geleden maakte ik de Lisbon cardigan van Itch to Stitch. 

Een prachtig patroon, maar met een ronde halslijn.  

Bijna onmiddelijk begon ik na te denken over hoe ik deze Lisbon kon omvormen tot een cardigan met een V-nek, want dat zijn mijn onbetwiste favorieten.  

Ik moest niet lang brainstormen want enkele dagen later kwam Kennis Wong, de designer van Itch to Stitch, op de proppen met de nieuwe Aveiro cardigan. 

Two weeks ago I made the Lisbon cardigan from Itch to Stitch.  

A beautiful pattern, but with a round neckline. Almost immediately I started thinking about how I could transform this Lisbon into a cardigan with a V-neck, because those are my undisputed favorites.

 I didn't have to brainstorm for a long time because a few days later Kennis Wong, the designer of Itch to Stitch, came up with the new Aveiro cardigan. 

 Deze Aveiro cardigan heeft echt alles wat ik wil in een cardigan!  

Je kan kiezen tussen maar liefst vier mouwlengtes: lang met een gewone boord, lang met een hoge boord, 3/4de en kort.

Het patroon bevat verder een bolero, een kort lijfje, een lijfje met een normale lengte en een lijfje met een lange lengte.  En al deze opties kunnen probleemloos gecombineerd worden!  Je hebt dus oneindig veel mogelijkheden.  Over een totaalpakket gesproken!

 This Aveiro cardigan has everything I want in a cardigan!  

You can choose between no less than four sleeve lengths: long with an normal cuff, long with a high cuff, 3/4th and short.
The pattern includes a bolero, a short body, a body with a normal length and a body with long length. And all these options can be combined without problems! You have endless possibilities. Talking about a total package ... this is one!

 

Ik koos de normale lengte met 3/4de mouwen.  Dit maakt mijn Aveiro cardigan de ideale cardigan om te dragen in het frisser wordende tussenseizoen. 

Ik ben ondertussen al aan het naaien aan mijn winterse versies💖.  

Je hebt immers nooit teveel cardigan's 😉. 

 I chose the normal length with 3/4 sleeves. This makes my Aveiro cardigan the ideal cardigan to wear in the fresher mid-season. 

I am already sewing on my winter versions💖.  

And remember: you never have too many cardigan's 😉.

 

The Hepburn pants from WBM

Een broek naaien is toch altijd weer een uitdaging.  

Gaat de pasvorm onmiddelijk goed zitten of moet ik een x-aantal aanpassingen doen, waardoor mijn zin om aan het echte exemplaar te beginnen meestal al heel wat geslonken is? 

Wat regelmatig mijn probleem is, is dat de taille iets te laag zit. 

Ken je dat?  Je gaat dan zitten en opeens ziet je buik er niet meer zo plat uit.

Wanneer je tailleband iets hoger komt heb je dat niet.  

En laat dat nu net het geval zijn bij deze Hepburn Pants met hoge tailleband van Wardrobe by me.

Sewing a pants is always a challenge. 

Is the fit right from the first time or do I have a number of adjustments to make, so my sense to start with the good fabric has usually shrunk a lot?

A common problem for me is that the waist is slightly too low.
Do you know that feeling? You sit down and suddenly your belly does not look so flat anymore.
When your waistband is slightly higher, you do not have it.  So the high waisted Hepburn Pants from Wardrobe by me seemed like a welcome pattern.

 De Hepburn Pants heeft 2 paspelzakken achteraan, steekzakken vooraan, een voorgevormde, hoge tailleband met riemlusjes en de broek wordt vooraan gesloten met een knoop en een broekrits.

Je kan kiezen tussen 2 beenvariaties: eentje met een omtrek van19,55"/ 50 cm onderaan (deze koos ik) en eentje met een iets breder pijp van 23"/58 cm omtrek onderaan.

The Hepburn Pants has back welt pockets, a front fly with zipper, side pockets, and contoured waistband with five belt loops. 

You can choose between two leg sweep options: A is 19,5” / 50 cm and B is 23” / 58 cm.

 De stof die je gebruikt moet geweven en niet te dun zijn.  Ze moet een beetje stretch bevatten (3-5% Lycra or elastane) om het draagcomfort te verhogen.  Goede keuzes zijn katoen met een twill weving, satijnkatoen of jeans.  Mijn stofje is een elastische wolmix van Modestofjes in St-Niklaas.

The pattern is best suited for a medium weight woven fabric such as but not limited to cotton twill, cotton sateen, denim or other appropriate pant-weight woven fabric. The material must include 3-5% Lycra or elastane. My fabric is a wool blend with lycra.

Het is een patroon met een gemiddelde moeilijkheidsgraad.  De instructies zijn zeer goed geschreven, met illustratiesbij elke stap.  De
for tutorial om een rits in de broek te zetten, zal zeker helpen bij het naaien van deze broek.

It is an intermediate pattern. The instructions are easy to follow, with illustrations for each step. Check the step by step picture tutorial for installing a zipper.

It's time to sew with Itch To Stitch ...

Ik ben zo trots dat ik mag deelnemen aan de "it's time to sew Itch tot Stitch" blogtour!   

Itch to Stitch is ongetwijfeld één van mijn favoriete patronenmerken.  De pasvorm is steeds perfect en ik moet zelden of nooit aanpassingen doen. 

Op de site stonden 2 patroontjes die ik al lange tijd wil maken, maar waar ik maar niet toe kwam: 

Anza en La Paz.  

Nu kennen jullie ineens ook de reden waarom ik zoveel patroontjes test. 

Ik kom anders niet tot naaien.  Ik heb steeds de deadline nodig om mijn naaimachine aan te zetten.  

Deze blogtour was dan ook voor mij de spreekwoordelijke schop onder mijn k... om aan de slag te gaan met de twee prachtige patronen.

Itch to Stitch is undoubtedly one of my favorite pattern brands. The fit is always perfect and I almost never have to to make adjustments.
On the site were 2 patterns that I wanted to make for a long time, but I did not get to it:

 Anza and La Paz.     

Now you suddenly know the reason why I test so many patterns.  I do not come to sewing without a deadline. I need it to turn on my sewing machine.
This blogtour was for me the proverbial shovel under my kick under my a... to get started with the two beautiful patterns.

Ik moet toegeven dat het de eerste keer was dat ik de kans kreeg om met deze exclusieve stoffen aan de slag te gaan en ik stond versteld.  

De kwaliteit magnifiek, de stoffen zijn zacht en soepel maar toch ook stevig en de print is zo helder en mooi.

Je voelt gewoon dat deze stofjes met liefde gemaakt zijn.

I have to admit that it was the first time I had the chance to work with these exclusive fabrics and I was amazed.
The quality is magnificent, the fabrics are soft and supple but also sturdy and the print is so bright and beautiful.
You just feel that these fabrics are made with love.

Dat allemaal gezegd zijnde kan het niet anders dan dat een combinatie van 

Itch to Stitch  en Atelier Lotte Martens 

vuurwerk geeft!  

En mijn verwachtingen werden ingelost.  

Ik ben zo trots op mijn  Anza Dress en mijn La Paz jacket!

All that being said, it can not be otherwise than that the combination 

 Itch to Stitch and Atelier Lotte Martens  

gives fireworks!
And my expectations were met.
I am so proud of my Anza Dress and my La Paz jacket!

 

 

De Anza is eigenlijk een jumpsuit en een jurk in één patroon!
Ze zijn beiden prachtig maar een jumpsuit is toch iets buiten mijn comfortzone, dus speelde ik op safe en ging ik voor de jurk.
Ik ben gek op de V-neck met knopen en de elastische taille met een koord. 
Er komt dus geen rits aan te pas!
De mouwen zijn aangeknipt en voorzien van een boord, lekker makkelijk.
En, last but not least, de jurk heeft zakken, maar liefst 4!

The Anza is actually a jumpsuit and a dress in one pattern!
They are both beautiful but a jumpsuit is something outside of my comfort zone, so I played safe and I went for the dress.
I love the V-neck with buttons and the elastic waist with a cord.  So there is no zipper!

 The sleeves are cut on with a cuff, easy!

And, last but not least, the dress has pockets, no less than 4! 

 Het La Paz jacket geeft de geklede finishing touch aan mijn outfit. 

De zakken zorgen voor een elegante, maar toch sportieve look.

Het jasje sluit vooraan met 2 knopen.

Zowel in het voorpand als in het achterpand zorgen de prinsessennaden voor een gecentreerde look.

De rug heeft een split. 

Doordat het jasje gemaakt is van stevige, rekbare stof (Punta Di Roma Dark Grey) zit het enorm comfortabel.

The La Paz jacket gives the dressed finishing touch to my outfit.
The pockets provide an elegant, yet sporty look.
The jacket closes at the front with 2 buttons.
Both, in the front and in the back, the princess seams ensure a centered look.
The back has a split.
Because the jacket is made of sturdy, stretchable fabric (Punta Di Roma Dark Grey) it feels very comfortable.

Sew long Summer! Hello Fall ...

Misschien zagen jullie hier al de prachtige Petaluma faux wrap dress.

Ik maakte deze zomerse jurk nog maar net en eigenlijk staat het koudere weer al voor de deur!  

Hier moesten we dus een mouw aan passen want ik wilde niet wachten tot volgende zomer om mijn jurk te dragen.

Kennis Wong van Itch to Stitch ontwierp reeds een hele tijd geleden de Lisbon cardigan, een ideaal basistuk om te combineren met de zomerse jurk.  

Ik moest enkel nog panty's en laarzen toevoegen en ... mijn herfstoutfit was compleet.

I just made this summer dress and, actually, the colder weather is already on the doorstep! 

So I had to do something about that because I didn't want to wait until 

next summer to wear my Petaluma. 

Kennis Wong from Itch to Stitch designed the Lisbon cardigan a long time ago, the ideal basic piece to combine with my summer dress. 

I only needed to add pants and boots and ... my fall outfit was complete.

De Lisbon cardigan is het perfecte basisstuk wanneer je graag laagjes draagt.  Je kan de cardigan dragen over een blouse, een T-shirt of over een jurk.  Dat laatste vind ik nu net zo leuk, want de meeste cardigans zijn net te lang om over een jurk te dragen.  De Lisbon daarentegen niet, want in het patroon is zowel de cardigan in een gewone lengte, als de cardigan in een kortere lengte inbegrepen.  Ik maakte dus de kortere lengte om te dragen op mijn jurk.

The Lisbon cardigan is your everyday essential, perfect for layering.  You can wear the Lisbon Cardigan over a blouse, a T-shirt or a dress.  

I like the Lisbon because most cardigans are just too long to wear over a dress. The Lisbon on the other hand is not, because the pattern includes Regular and cropped bodice options. 

I made the cropped length to wear on my dress.

De twee lengten zijn niet de enige keuze die je hebt bij dit patroon.  Er is ook variatie mogelijk in de mouwen.  Ik koos voor de 3/4 mouwen, maar ook lange mouwen zijn een optie.

The two length options are not the only choice you have with this pattern.  There is also variation possible in the sleeves. I chose the 3/4 sleeves, but long sleeves are also an option.

The Petaluma faux wrap dress from Itch to Stitch

                                                                                   Ik ben een grote fan van van wikkeljurken, dat is zeker.  

Er is alleen, voor mij, een heel grote "maar" aan verbonden.
Die overslag blijft nooit mooi op zijn plaats zitten en dat kan leiden tot wel heel genante situaties.
Dit wil ik vermijden, dus als ik kan maak ik van wikkeljurken valse wikkeljurken door er een gewone rok aan te zetten.

Kennis Wong van Itch to Stitch moet of mijn probleem geraden hebben, of ze moet hetzelfde probleem hebben.  Ze ontwierp met de Petaluma faux wrap dress namelijke een prachtige "valse" wikkeljurk.
Het uitzicht is hetzelfde als bij een echte wikkeljurk, alleen mijn gemoedsrust is een stuk hoger 😉.

I'm a very big fan of wrap dresses, that's for sure. 
There is only a very big "but" attached to it. The overlapping panels never stays in the right place, and that can lead to very embarrassing situations. I want to avoid this, so if I can I make false wrap dresses from wrap dresses by putting on a regular skirt. 
Kennis Wong from Itch to Stitch must have guessed my problem, or she maybe has the same problem, because     she designed  Petaluma faux wrap dress.  It's a beautiful "false" wrap dress. The view is the same, only my peace of mind is a lot higher 😉.

Het patroon van de Petaluma faux wrap dress heeft heel wat te bieden.  Zo kan je kiezen voor een voorpand in een A, B, C, D of DD cup.  Het wikkellijfje en de bladvormige rok zijn ongevoerd.  De jurk wordt gesloten met een onzichtbare rits op de rug.  Optioneel kan je een striklint in de taille toevoegen.  De jurk heeft bovendien ook nog zakken.

The pattern of the Petaluma faux wrap dress has a lot to offer.  You can have options for A, B, C, D and DD cups.  The Wrap top and A-line petal skirt are unlined with an invisible back zipper.  The optional sash can be tied in front or at the back.  

The dress has functional in-seam pockets!

De Petaluma biedt 3 verschillende mouwopties: korte mouwen, vlindermouwen en dubbele bloemblad mouwen.  Ik koos deze laatste versie en ik ben er werkelijk weg van!

The Petaluma also offers three different sleeve options: Short, double petal and butterfly sleeves.  I made the double petal sleeves and I adore them!

De Petaluma is een patroon dat nog vaak uit de kast zal komen!

The Petaluma will become your go-to dress for years to come!

The Maple cardigan from Peach Patterns

Ik naaide een Maple Cardigan van Peach Patterns en koos voor optie B.  Deze optie is een klassieke cardigan met een aangenaaide band middenvoor en rond de neklijn.  

Om een prachtig, professioneel afgewerkt exemplaar te krijgen voorzag de designer een tutorial voor het bevestigen van de band op haar blog.

I sewed the Maple Cardigan from Peach Patterns!  I choose option B, the banded Front Cardigan.   It's a classic cardigan with a band that is attached around the centre front and neckline.

Voor dit patroon kan een heel scala aan stof gebruikt worden, en iedere stof zal zorgen voor een unieke look, van simpel tot chic. De enige vereiste is dat de stof minstens 25% stretch heeft.

For this pattern you can use a whole range of fabrics, and each fabric will provide a unique look, from simple to chic.  The only requirement is that the fabric has at least 25% stretch.

Als ik optie B gemaakt heb, dan moet er natuurlijk ook nog een optie A zijn ;-).

Die is er ook!

Het is dezelfde cardigan maar met een voorpand in waterval stijl.  Benieuwd?  Neem zeker eens een kijkje bij de Maple Cardigan op de site van Peach Patterns!

If I made option B, there must be an option A ;-).
