Brown, brown, lots of brown ....

Brown is usually not my color.
It is not that I do not like the color, but I will not use it as spontaneously.
When I received the beautiful brown fabric from Minerva, I decided to find a matching brown fabric for a t-shirt.

The pattern for the T-shirt is the Day to Night Pattern from Ellie and Mac.  I made it in a fabric from an old collection of Froyd & Dind.

With the really gorgeous, brown Stretch Suiting fabric from Minerva I sewed a new  Hepburn Pants.  When the pattern came out I already sewed a red one and I wore it a lot.
It is a high waisted pair of pants with back welt pockets, a front fly with zipper, side pockets, and a contoured waistband with five belt loops.

The fit of the pants is really perfect.  The pants sits as cast and I didn’t have to make any adjustments.  The fabric also has a little stretch which only benefits the wearing comfort.

I think I will wear this combination often 💓.

I finally made my own winter coat

I stick to the plan!

Making a winter jacket is on my sewwinglist for a long time.
And when I say "for a long time" I certainly don't exaggerate!
I think I've been with that plan for at least 2 years, but it just didn't happen.
I am so stubborn that I would rather walk around without a coat than buy one.
I stick to the plan!
And so it happened that I walked around without a coat the entire last winter.

So I think I should thank Tami, the designer of Love Notions. Because she designed the beautiful Octave coat, and so I was spared from another cold winter.

This coat fits really well. It's like it was designed for me. I chose the version with the hood, but the collar, which is also included in the Octave coat pattern, is also super nice and immediately creates a different "look".
My coat is also fully lined, but an unlined coat is also possible.

The fabric is boiled wool from my fabric stock (it was part of the plan that I would never implement toch). I don't even know where I bought it anymore.
Not such a fan of wool?
Any fabric with a bit of weight can be used, just think of flannel, fleece, teddy, ...

Okay, I did have a cold last winter, but I think it was worth the wait 💖.
And by the way, the jacket wasn't hard to sew at all, something that suprised me. I already sewed many dresses that were twice as complicated.

The new Cape Cod Capelet

The new Cape Cod Capelet pattern from Itch to Stitch is such an asset
during the sunny but cold fall days.
I wore mine several times, it is such a comfy and chique item of clothing!

De Cape Cod Capelet zit echt in now time in elkaar.

The Cape Cod Capelet is really easy to sew. I really think that hemming is the most work,
there is really nothing else about it.
I am a big fan of this cape with its spacious raglan sleeves, beautiful loose collar
and high-low hemline💖 .

The Cape is also an ideal Christmas gift!
You can sew it without knowing the precise measurements. After all, the fit is very forgiving.
If you also make it in a slightly more luxurious fabric then you have a wonderful gift!
Ideal right?

The Chelsea skirt in Terracotta Coduroy

When I think of fall clothing, I think of corduroy.
And which color reminds you more of fall than terracota?
Mix these 2 together and the beautiful terracotta Corduroy fabric from De Stoffengallerij
is ideal for sewing a beautiful fall skirt.
The fabric is of a nice, heavy quality, which makes it perfect for sewing a skirt with a little "body" or a vest.

Sewing with Corduroy made my eyebrows frown in advance. I never had workedwith this fabric.
Did I have anything to take into account?
I did some research and actually it was really easy.
2 tips that I can already give you:
- Corduroy has color difference depending on which direction you use it. So you have to lay all your pattern pieces in the same direction on your fabric before you cut them out.
- In order not to damage the fibers of the corduroy, it is best to place a bath towel or another piece of corduroy under your corduroy to prevent damage to the structure of the fibers.
My experience now is that it is actually a super easy fabric for cut, manipulate and sew. Highly recommended.

The pattern I used for this fun button-down skirt is
the Chelsea Skirt from Pattern Emporium.
This A-line skirt is made of panels that are all neatly topstiched.
The pattern has three lengths and three pocket options. I chose the knee length and the Utility pockets for my skirt. The pattern is very well very well drawn and contains detailed instructions, this skirt is certainly doable for ladies of every sewing level.

The Grace tunic in a beautiful fabric

Do you know that feeling? You see a fabric and your heart spontaneously skips a beat?
I had that when I saw this beautiful fabric from De Stoffengalerij.

It is a viscose fabric from Hilco and I must admit that I rarely felt such a soft fabric glide through my hands.  The basic color is dark green with blue, white and soft orange flowers on top.
This fabric asked for a beautiful pattern.

I usually start from a pattern and then I search for the fabric, so this time
I worked the other way around.
A long time ago I already made the Grace Dress from Warderobe by me.
However, this pattern also has a tunic version with a beautiful curved hem,
it has been on my "to sew" list for ages.

Een match made in heaven!

The pattern requires a drapy fabric and this ultra-soft viscose is for sure! A match made in heaven!
Out of all the options, I opted for the long sleeves (with cuffs), the stand-up collar and a string on the neckline (because I admit, I think that such a bow tie is really really cool 💖).

And I also have super good news, because from today until Thursday 7 November you will get a 20% discount on this beautiful Chione dark green fabric at De Stoffengalerij  (when you buy more than 1m)!

Keep it simple babe!

 Over veelzijdige patronen gesproken ...

Talking about versatile patterns ...
Pattern Emporium released not 1, but 2 new patterns!
The Keep it simple babe and the Hello gorgeous are both a hit.

I made the Keep it simple babe and chose the low "square-neckline", the 3/4 sleeves
and the long length. The pattern offers an enormous number of options.

So you have a choice between 8 necklines:

  • High Squared Neck
  • Low Squared Neck
  • Crew Neck
  • High Rounded
  • Low Rounded
  • Boat Neck
  • V-Neck
  • Turtle Neck
En 6 verschillende mouwen:
 And 6 different sleeves:
  • Cap Sleeve
  • Short Sleeve
  • 1/2 Sleeve (above elbow)
  • 3/4 Sleeve (below elbow)
  • Long Sleeve
  • Cuffed Long Sleeve

Over ontelbare combinaties gesproken!

And if all these choices are not enough then you can exchange the different sleeves and necklines of the Hello gorgeous and the Keep it simple babe 💓!
Talking about countless combinations!

The Adele knit boatneck top

The new pattern from Sinclair Patterns, The Adele knit boatneck top, is a hit.  It is a top perfect for all seasons.  It has a boat neck with small inserts, which you can make in a contrast fabric like I did.

The pattern has a lot of options. You can make the top with a straight seam on hip length, or you can, like me, opt for an asymmetrical peplum with side vents.
The sleeves also offer variation, from short, elbow, 3/4 to long sleeves.

You can attach a nice knotted band to the elbow sleeve. Something I had to test.

The Adele knit boatneck top is a beautiful pattern and on top of that, it's also very easy to make!
Highly recommended, both for the novice and the more advanced seamstress.
