The Calgary in a cozy knit fabric from the Stoffengalerij

Het weer wordt stillaan guurder in België, we voelen dat de herfst nu echt in het land zit.  Tijd dus voor het dragen van laagjes om mezelf toch een beetje warm te houden.  Ik vond op de site van Pattern Niche het ideale laagjes patroon: de Calgary Cardigan.

The weather is gradually getting colder in Belgium, we feel that autumn is now really in the country. Time to wear layers to keep myself a bit warm. I found the ideal layering pattern on the Pattern Niche site: the Calgary Cardigan.

Deze stijlvolle cardigan wilde ik onmiddellijk maken in een knus breisel.  De ideale stof om in weg te duiken tijdens druilerige dagen.  Ik vond direct mijn keuze bij De Stoffengalerij in het mapje "nieuw binnengekomen stoffen": een mooie, iets grovere, breisel van Stenzo trok mijn aandacht.  Het is beschikbaar in 3 kleuren: kaki, oudroze en donkerblauw: keuzestress!!!!

I immediately wanted to make this stylish cardigan in a cozy knit. The ideal fabric to hide in during drizzly days. I immediately found my choice at De Stoffengalerij in the folder "newly arrived fabrics": a beautiful, slightly coarser knit from Stenzo caught my attention. It is available in 3 colors: stress of choice!!!!

Uiteindelijk ging ik voor de grijze variant.  In real life vind ik de stof meer kaki van kleur.  Een perfect kleurtje om te dragen in de herfst, combineerbaar met zoveel andere kleurtjes.

In the end I went for the gray version. In real life I find the fabric more khaki in color. A perfect color to wear in the fall, can be combined with so many other colors.

Het prachtige Calgary Cardigan patroon.  Er zijn niet minder dan 13 verschillende looks te naaien.  Ik voeg een prent met de opties toe ter inspiratie ...

Arlington sweater, the sweater for every season ...

 De nieuwe Arlington Sweater van Love Notions is de ideale trui voor mij.  
Het patroon bevat super veel opties waardoor ik er eentje voor elk seizoen kan maken.

Ik startte mijn Arlington avontuur met een versie voor de herfst.  Een versie met een zalig ruime kraag om helemaal in weg te kruipen, met prachtige bisschopmouwen en een flatterende heupband.

The new Arlington Sweater from Love Notions is the ideal sweater for me.

The pattern has so many options that I can make one for every season.

I started my Arlington adventure with a version for fall. A version with a blissfully roomy collar to curl up in, with gorgeous bishop sleeves and a flattering waistband.

Het patroon is bestemd voor rekbare stoffen met minstens 40% rek.  Ik wilde mijn herfstversie in een gezellig warm stofje maken, dus koos ik voor deze gebreide ribstof uit mijn stoffenvoorraad.  

The pattern is intended for stretch fabrics with at least 40% stretch. I wanted to make my fall version in a cozy warm fabric, so I chose this rib knit from my fabric stash.

In the meantime, I'm already brainstorming about my next version. Thinking about what I'm going to sew is a hobby in itself for me. It often takes more time than the sewing itself ;-).

Lots of Mandy love!

 Ik ben een "gloednieuwe" Ambassador voor 5 out of 4 patterns.  
Met enige trots stel ik dan ook mijn eerste naaisel voor dit super patronenmerk voor:  De Mandy fitted tank.  

I am a "brand new" Ambassador for 5 out of 4 patterns. 

I am proud to present my first sewing project for this fantastic sewing brand: The Mandy fitted tank.

Ik maakte niet 1 maar onmiddellijk 2 Mandy's.  

Waarom?  Omdat ik net na het maken van de eerste besefte dat dit een echte "must have" basic is.  

Want ook al is de zomer in België bijna ten einde, deze top is ook een perfecte top 

onder een trui in de winter.  

I made not 1 but immediately 2 Mandy's.

Why? Because just after making the first one I realized that this is a real "must have" basic.  

Because even though summer in Belgium is almost over, this top is also a perfect top 

under a sweater in winter.

De Mandy is een aanpassende top zowel aan de buste, in de taille als aan de heupen.  

The Mandy is a fitted top at the bust, at the waist and at the hips.

Ik naaide de top in minder dan een uurtje.  Het is dus "een vluggertje".  

De instructies zijn verder ook zeer gedetailleerd.  Dit maakt de top erg geschikt voor beginners. 

   I sewed the top in less than an hour. So it's "a quickie". 

The instructions are also very detailed. This makes the top very suitable for beginners.

Ondertussen heb ik ook nog fuchsia, crème en marineblauwe stof klaar liggen om nog meer Mandy's te maken want doordat ik maar 70 cm stof nodig had is de Mandy niet enkel mooi

maar ook zeer economisch om te naaien.  
Een echt toppertje!

In the meantime I also have fuchsia, cream and navy blue fabric ready to make even more Mandy's and because I only needed 70 cm of fabric, the Mandy is not only beautiful but also very economical to sew. A real topper!

The Love Notions Sloane Sweater

Ik maakte mijn eerste Sloane Sweater van Love Notions, en ik ben er echt weg van!

I made my first Sloane Sweater from Love Notions and I really love it!

Het is de ideale trui om te naaien voor de herfst en de winter.  Ik paste niets aan en de afhangende schouders en de lossere pasvorm zitten als gegoten.

It is the ideal sweater to sew for autumn and winter.  I didn't adjust anything and the dropped shoulders and the looser fit are just perfect.

De trui heeft 2 verschillende versies.  Versie A heeft een voor en achterpas en een mooi aanpassend silhouet.  De zoom komt achteraan lager dan vooraan.  Ik maakte versie B, met een heupband en een ronde hals.

The sweater has 2 different views.  View A has a front and back yoke and a nice fitting silhouette.  The hem is lower in the back than in the front.  I made View B, with banded bottem and a round neck.

Het patroon heeft ook een aantal opties zoals kangoeroe zakken, een kap en ellebooglappen.  Ik hield mijn trui echter zo sober mogelijk omdat de stof van mij al de aandacht mag krijgen.  

The pattern also has a number of options such as kangaroo pockets, a hood and elbow patches.  However, I kept my sweater as sober as possible because I like the fabric to get all the attention.

De Sloane Sweater is vooral geschikt voor rekbare stoffen die mooi doorhangen.  Ik besloot om mijn gekoesterd stofje van Minerva te gebruiken.  Dit French Terry stofje is prachtig van kleur.  Het rekt goed en herstelt zich ook goed na het uitrekken.  Echt topkwaliteit dus!

The Sloane Sweater is especially suitable for stretchy fabrics that drape nicely.  I decided to use my cherished fabric from Minerva   This French Terry fabric has a beautiful color.  It stretches well and also recovers well after stretching.  So really top quality!

My red Lagan coat

 Vorige winter naaide ik de perfecte winterjas voor mezelf.  Ik kon deze nog niet met jullie delen omdat het nog een hele tijd zou duren voor het patroon uitkwam.  Nu is het eindelijk zo ver!  Ik stel jullie met trots mijn Lagan coat voor…

Last winter I sewed the perfect winter coat for myself. I couldn't share it with you yet because it would take a long time before the pattern came out. Now the time has finally come! I proudly present you my Lagan coat…

 

De Lagan coat is een ontwerp van Itch to Stitch en het is een echt pareltje.  Gecentreerd, vrouwelijk, klassiek en tijdloos … stuk voor stuk woorden die bij deze jas passen.

The Lagan coat is a design by Itch to Stitch and it is a real gem. Centered, feminine, classic and timeless… all words that match this jacket.

Het patroon beschikt over volgende pluspunten:
- cupmaten
- Prinsessennaden voor en achter voor een geweldige pasvorm
- tailleband voor een flatterend silhouet
 - Kraag met kraagstandaard
  - Tweedelige mouwen
  - Zijzakken in de naad
  - Volledig gevoerd

The pattern has the following options:

Het is een super lonend project om te naaien.  Alles behalve een snel klaar project, maar het is de geïnvesteerde tijd echt waard.  De instructies zijn bovendien zeer uitgebreid en perfect te begrijpen, ook voor naaisters met minder ervaring.  

It's a super rewarding project to sew. Anything but a quick project, but it's really worth the time invested. The instructions are also very extensive and perfectly understandable, even for seamstresses with less experience.

Ik ben altijd erg kritisch over de dingen die ik naai. Vaak komen dingen daarna niet meer uit mijn kast. Andere items daarentegen draag ik de hele tijd... 

I am always very critical of the things I sew.  Often things don't come out of my closet afterwards.  Other items, on the other hand, I wear all the time…

Deze Glissando rok van Love Notions is er ongetwijfeld eentje uit de laatste categorie 🥳. 
Ik vind deze rok echt super leuk ...

A Rockford with a touch of the Laundry Day Tee

Ik maakte voor mezelf deze super leuke nieuwe trui!  Hiervoor maakte ik gebruik van 2 Love Notions patroontjes, de Rockford Raglan en de Laundry day Tee.  Deze laatste is trouwens gratis met de code in de LN Facebook groep. 

I made this super cute new sweater for myself! For this I used 2 Love Notions patterns, the Rockford Raglan and the Laundry day Tee (free with the code in the LN Facebook group).

Deze hack is echt heel simpel!  Ik nam de halslijn van het voorpand van de Laundry day tee over op het voorpand van de Rockford.  Aan het achterpand veranderde ik niets.

This hack is really very simple! I copied the neckline from the front of the Laundry day tee to the front of the Rockford. I didn't change anything on the back.

Daarna volgde ik gewoon de instructies om de raglan te maken.  De kraag naaide ik volgens de instructies van de Laundry Day.  Piece of Cake!

Then I just followed the instructions to make the raglan. I sewed the collar according to the Laundry Day instructions. Piece of Cake!

Laat beide patroontjes je zeker niet afschrikken.  De instructies zijn enorm duidelijk en wijzen zichzelf uit, ook voor beginnende naaisters.

Don't let this patterns scare you off. The instructions are very clear and self explanatory, even for novice sewists.

A dreamy Spirren Tank ...

 Ik houd van een goed top patroontje, zeker als er wat speciale accentjes aan zijn.  Dit is bij het nieuwe Itch to Stich patroontje zeker het geval.  Mag ik je voorstellen aan de Spirren tank?

I love a good top pattern, especially if it has some special accents. This is certainly the case with the new Itch to Stich pattern. May I introduce you to the Spirren tank?

De Spirren Tank heeft super leuke rimpels aan de schouders en plooitjes onder de borst.

The Spirren Tank has super nice gathers at the shoulders and pleats under the bust.

Zoals de meeste Itch to Stitch patroontjes zijn is er ook een "Full Bust" patroondeel inbegrepen.  Dit kan je gebruiken wanneer je hogere borstomvang meer dan 7,5 cm verschilt met je borstomvang.  Bij mij is dit verschil 10 cm, dus ik gebruik steeds het "Full bust" patroondeel.  Heel handig want het bespaart mij weer een aanpassing aan het patroon.

Like most Itch to Stitch patterns, a "Full Bust" pattern piece is also included. You can use this when your upper bust measurement differs by more than 7.5 cm from your bust measurement. With me this difference is 10 cm, so I always use the "Full bust" pattern piece. Very handy because it saves me adjusting the pattern.

Het bovendeel van de tank is gevoerd en heeft een hele mooie, gebogen V-hals.

The top part of the tank is lined and has a very nice, curved V-neck.

De Spirren Tank is ontworpen voor middelzware rekbare stof met voldoende horizontale en verticale stretch, zoals tricot.  Ik gebruikte een restje (80 cm maar!) van een prachtig Minerva stofje.  Het patroontje is een aanrader, ik ben zeer tevreden met het resultaat 😊.

The Spirren Tank is designed for medium-weight knit fabric with good recovery, and with 50% horizontal and vertical stretch, such as cotton spandex jersey, poly spandex jersey and interlock. I used a leftover (80 cm!) of a beautiful Minerva fabric. The pattern is highly recommended, I am very satisfied with the result 😊.

Be Bold Bodysuit from Patterns For Pirates

Een nieuwe dag, een nieuw naaiproject ... 
Dat is eigenlijk hoe het hier op dit moment gaat, omdat ... ik vakantie heb. Ik ben leerkracht in het ondersteuningsnetwerk voor kinderen met een beperking. En nu de zomervakantie is aangebroken is er zoveel tijd om op internet te zoeken naar nieuwe ideeën, patronen aan te passen, na te denken over een nieuwe herfstgarderobe en natuurlijk te naaien.

Tijdens de vakantie heb ik de tijd om die patronen te naaien die al sinds eeuwen op mijn verlanglijstje staan.

 A new day, a new sewing project …
That's actually how things are going here at the moment because ... I'm on vacation!  I am a teacher in the support network for children with disabilities.  And now that the summer holidays have arrived there is so much time to scour the internet for new ideas, to adjust patterns, to think about a new autumn wardrobe and, of course, to sew.

During the holiday months I have all the time to sew those patterns that have been on my wish list for a long time. 

 

Eén daarvan is de Be Bold Bodysuit van Patterns for Pirates. 
Ik hou echt van een goed bodysuit patroon. Dit kledingstuk is zalig om in laagjes te dragen of als top in combinatie met een jeans of een kokerrok. Het kruipt nooit omhoog en je hebt nooit een blote onderrug.

One of them is the BeBold Bodysuit from Patterns for Pirates.  
I really like a good bodysuit pattern.  This garment is blissful to wear in layers or as a top combined with jeans or a pencil skirt.  It never creeps up and you never have a bare lower back.

Met het Be Bold Bodysuit patroon van P4P denk ik echt dat ik nooit meer een ander bodysuit patroon nodig heb. Deze klassieke, nauwsluitende bodysuit zit zo mooi! En het patroon is helemaal niet moeilijk om te naaien. Bovendien heb je ook een enorm aantal opties om uit te kiezen.

With the Be Bold Bodysuit pattern from P4P I really think I never need another bodysuit pattern.  This classic, tight fit bodysuit fits so nicely!  And it's not hard to make at all.  Plus, you also have a huge number of options that are included in the pattern. 

- Je kan zowel voor als achter een hogere of lagere halslijn kiezen... 

- Er zijn opties om een top met mouwen, een tanktop of een met dunne bandjes te naaien ...

- Je kunt de halslijn afwerken met een eenvoudig picot-elastiekje of met een voering en een ingebouwde bh... 

- Het broekje is een string of een slip ...

- Je kunt de ondernaad op de traditionele manier naaien of je kan drukknopen toevoegen met een voornaad...

- You can choose a higher or lower neckline on both the back and front ...  

- There are options to sew a top with sleeves, a tank top or one with thin straps ...

- You can finish the neckline with a simple picot elastic or with a lining and a built in bra.  

- The pants are a thong or a brief 

- You can sew the seam in the traditional back spot or add snaps with a front seam ... 

De tricot stof van "Art Gallery Fabrics" is gewoonweg perfect. Deze prachtige jersey van katoen en spandex is extreem zacht en heeft een zeer goede rekbaarheid. Dat heb je nodig bij het naaien van een bodysuit. Immers, als de stof na het uitrekken niet in zijn oorspronkelijke vorm terugkeert, wordt het na een tijdje dragen een vormloos ding. De stof vind je bij Minerva.

In mijn hoofd zijn er al veel variaties voor de Be Bold Bodysuit van Patterns for Pirates aan het opborrelen dus dit succesverhaal gaat zeker verder...

The Jersey fabric from "Art Gallery Fabrics" is simply perfect. This beautiful jersey made of cotton and spandex is extremely soft and has a very good stretch. You need that when sewing a bodysuit. After all, if the fabric after stretching is not in its shapeless thing. You can find the fabric at Minerva.

Many variations for the Be Bold Bodysuit from Patterns for Pirates are already bubbling up in my head, so this success story certainly continues...
